About Mobile Validation

Updated: July 7th, 2016

Mobile validation is an extremely useful tool that you can use to determine if a contacts mobile number is correct. Contacts can have one of 4 mobile validation statuses: Unvalidated, Possible Issue, Validated and Error. You cannot manually set the Mobile Validation status of a contact - MOBIT will automatically determine this for you.

In this article, we will explain what each of these statuses mean.

Unvalidated

Contact's that have not yet been sent a text but appear to have a correct mobile number will have a mobile validation status of Unvalidated. Once a text message is sent to the contact, their mobile validation status will change to Validated or Error

MOBIT can determine whether a contact's mobile number appears to be correct as for each country, mobile number format generally follows a set format. For example:

  • In the United States, mobile numbers must contain a pre defined 3 digit area code and be 10 digits long.
  • In the United Kingdom, mobile numbers must start with a 7 followed by 9 digits

Possible Issue

This is the oppose to Unvalidated. Contact's who have not yet received a text message will have their mobile validation status set to possible issue if their mobile number does appear to be correct.

Validated

Once a text message is sent to a contact, MOBIT is able to determine whether or not that mobile number is valid. If MOBIT gets confirmation back from our carriers that the text message was successfully delivered, the contact's mobile validation status will be set to Validated.

Error

Once a text message is sent to a contact, MOBIT is able to determine whether or not that mobile number is valid. If MOBIT gets confirmation back from our carriers that the text message was not delivered due to a wrong mobile number, the contact's mobile validation status will be set to Error.
